The Viasat Aeronautical Blanket Purchase Agreement (Aero BPA), Contract # HC1013-24-A-001, offers secure global voice and data connectivity to both the Department of Defense (DoD) and Federal Agency organizations. This connectivity is made possible through various Viasat services, including BGAN, SwiftBroadband (SBB), Fleet Broadband (FBB), Classic Aero (Viasat Aero H, Aero H+, and Aero I), Viasat GX, SIMOPS, and FlightDeck Freedom.

The primary objective is to ensure worldwide data and voice services are available for aircraft equipped with Inmarsat technology, in order to meet mission requirements.

Contract Dates: February 14, 2024 – February 13, 2029

The Department of Defense (DoD) necessitates commercial satellite services to ensure secure worldwide voice and data connectivity for missions. This connectivity relies on Inmarsat Swift Broadband (SBB), Classic Aero H+, Very High-Frequency Data Link (VDL), and access to DirecTV in the Continental United States (CONUS), Alaska, and Hawaii. This requirement aims to facilitate global operations to meet the needs of all “Take Charge and Move Out” (TACAMO) and Airborne Command Post (ABNCP) mission requirements.

The Consolidated Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) aims to deliver standard Inmarsat BGAN and land-based GX service capabilities to the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, the Department of Defense (DISA), and various Federal Agencies. These capabilities encompass dynamic IP, voice, video, data, messaging, and streaming services, all available worldwide. Only the contracting field offices of DITCO-Scott and DITCO-Pacific have the authorization to make orders under this BPA.

Contract Dates: April 09, 2021 – April 08, 2026

The Department of the Air Force has identified an immediate need in the strategic capability area of “Resilient Information Sharing”. Satcom Direct FDXr, with its revolutionary passive phased array microhorn technology, low weight, power consumption, and its simplified two LRU capability has the potential to decrease aircraft downtime and increase command and control across all aviation centric domains. We anticipate the outcomes to benefit several critical operations for the warfighter to include voice communications, C2, data collection, offload, and battlefield awareness. While the central focus of this effort is United States Air Force, we are pursuing aviation and land mobile applications with the United States Navy and United States Army.

In partnership with Florida Institute of Technology (FIT), SDG is conducting R&D on a Multi-band Intelligent Wide-Area-Network (WAN). The Multi-Band Intelligent Wide-Area-Network solution when adapted by Department of the Airforce will provide the ability to use multiple service providers across their multiple frequency bands. Leveraging our partnership with Florida Institute of Technology, an AI industry leader we will incorporate machine learning yielding bandwidth data optimization based off environmental intelligence, network efficiency, availability, beam geography, predictive network optimization, quality of service, and self-healing resilient links.

In September 2022, AMC Commander General Mike Minihan his keynote address at the Air Force Association (AFA) Conference regarding his “Mobility Manifesto” stated “I’ve got four gaps that I’m concerned about. Command and control, navigation, maneuvering under fire, and tempo.” The SD Pro solution will solve Gen. Minihan’s concerns around C2 and navigation. SD Pro is a purpose-built global communications and navigation flight platform. SD Pro integrates all C2 and Navigation applications one mission planning, situational awareness, and after-action reporting platform. It provides a comprehensive view across all bands and integrated networks. SD Pro will enable mission planning through the Advanced Connectivity module, forecasting upcoming flight plans with real time accurate global coverage availability utilizing current network and planned network outages based on weather, schedule, and unscheduled maintenance activities.
